Help Calvin College`s Drama Group to paricipate at the World Championships for the Performing arts
Calvin College `s Drama group earned a gold and bronze medals at the South-African championships for the Performing Arts held at Rustenburg (S.A) during 2007. They have to attend the world championships in Los Angeles during July/August. Our aim is to raise the necessary funds to help them get there. We strive to uplift and educate the communicate by choosing socio-economic issues like poverty,the H.I.V./AIDS pandemic, womens and children`s rights as our topics . We are proudly South-African, and choose our performances carefully to portray the unique South-African lifestyle that we embrace and love.
History
It all started from a single English play.We realized that we have a passion for acting, so we decided to form a acting group.
We tried to get more learners to join us, but we they were not interested.To prove how serious we were, we decided to go as we are. We then heard about the South-African Championships of Performing arts and decided to enter. In 2006 we got as far as the semi-finals, and received silver medals.
In 2007 , we participated again and won gold and bronze respectively.
This qualified us to participate at the World Championships of Performing Arts , which are held annually in Los Angeles ,California.
We were so excited!To think us, Y.A.D (That`s our group`s name), from rural Burgersfort, Limpopo, South-Africa, will go to America!Wow!Wow!
Reality quickly settles in.We were unable to raise the necessary funds to be able to go. We were so sad. There is nothing that we can say that will be able to describe our sadness and disappointment's.
But , the organizers of the South-African championships promised us that we will be included in the team for the 2008 championships.
Again, we felt the seed of hope grow in our belly's.
We have managed to raise some money, but its barely 10% of the amount that we need to raise to be able to go.

Y.A.D is the name of our group. Why did we choose this name?
Y=Young
A-Ambitious
D=Dreamers
So, we are young, ambitious and we are dreamers.As young people who believe in their talent,we are proud to say- We are not to shy, neither proud , to follow our dreams and reaching for the stars.
We realize that, our ambitions and blood, sweat and tears, will help us get there.
Why did we choose acting?
*We are trying to uplift our community , by proving that young people can be constructive in building their own future.
*We are making a effort to stay of the streets like so many kids in our community.
*Proving to people that children can be responsible.
*To inform our community about the problems associated with poverty and crime, which includes issues like H.I.V/AIDS, woman and child abuse, rape,teenage pregnancy and substance abuse.
Aims
*To be the best we can be.
*To learn from our mistakes.
*To allow people to see that your destiny can reach beyond your place of residency.
*To be able to interact with other artists like ourselves.
Reasons why we need your sponsorship.
*To help us to fulfill our destiny and realize our dream.
*We have proven for two consecutive years that we definitely have talent! It`s not just pie in the sky!
*we believe in our talent so much, that we believe that a sponsor from you will not be a waste of your money , time or effort.
*We are based in a very remote area of South-Africa, where poverty is the rule and crime is the norm of the day. Unfortunately, there is no corporations here that can assist us, and our nearest city is 150 km away.
*This is a huge opportunity, and we will not be able to realize this without help from generous sponsors.
*With your help, we might become as famous as Charlize Theron and also win an Oscar!
